Boats on the Seine:

If you have your heart set on a party on a river boat on the Seine in Paris then there are numerous ways you can do that. In most cases you must first rent the boat: anywhere from 1500.00 euros to 3000.00 euros depending on the boat size. Then you must then pay a price per person for the appetizer, dinner and dessert on the boat. It depends on what you want.

For example: If you want the boat for just 3 hours in the afternoon for a drink and finger foods the cost is less than if you want the boat from 6pm-2am with a full sit down dinner. Costs range from 70 euros a person on up to 130.00 euros per person, or more.

There are many boats on the Seine in Paris, some near the Eiffel Tower and others way over by the National Library and Bercy Park.

Here are a few that were our favorites; Our choices of boats:

Le Six-Huit:

This one is our favorite, for several reasons: friendliness of the manager, location-location-location, and boat size.

This boat one is just below Notre Dame. Yes, just below it! One cannot get a more 'Paris' location than this. With Notre Dame as one's background they can host between 40-70 people comfortable for a sit down dinner on the upper deck, and then there is a deck below where a DJ and dance floor can be set up.

The manager and owner is SUPER friendly, and they will work with you to help you stick within your budget. We set up a time to meet him by email, and then we sat with him in person and discussed what we wanted and he was super accommodating and helpful in working with us. They are also really good about getting back to email:

La Balle au Bond:

This boat is nice, though the location isn't as nice as the last one (though not bad either). This one is located across from the Louvre, with a view of the Pont des Arts.

The manager of event reservations was nice, and this boat is much bigger than Le Six-Huit. One can host a much greater number of people on this one, so depending on the size or your party it may be a better choice. They have a very nice software they use where they enter in all you want for your party and it calculates what the price will be, and they give you a quote on the spot (they show you and then email it to you), and they are great about getting back to you by email as well.

O Fil de l'O:

This is the cutest little boat on the Seine. It would host maybe 40 people sit-down, and the upper deck is not covered or heated. This is because it only does summer events, from about April/May to the end of September. While smaller than the last two, it decor and ambiance is super cute, clean and stylish, and includes a baby-grand piano. The manager is super friendly and will sit and chat with you about your needs if you show up in person.

Restaurants with Private Rooms:

Le Chalet des Iles

This Chalet is located in the expansive Bois de Boulogne, a large forest and park just on the east side of Paris. The location is very romantic, and requires that people walk onto a small boat that carries them across the lake to the chalet. There is parking on the road just next to the lake. The closest station would be the Avenue Henri Martin on the RER C, or the metro line 1 at Porte Maillot, or the Porte Dauphine metro stop (the last one) on line 2.

The party rooms that can be reserved are backed by trees, and on the front there is the lake, and a terrace accompanies each. Each room is nicely decorated, with lounge seats in the corners, and a hunting-lodge-meets-Christian-Dior feel to their decor.

The menus include a cocktail with finger foods as people arrive, then a lunch or dinner with choices of 4 appetizers, 4 dinners and 4 desserts, then tea and coffee at the end. Included are waiters, a coat check and a manager at one's disposal. The price for everything is 138.74 euros per person. There are rooms for 40 people, 100 people, 200 people or 400 people, and for extra a DJ and dance floor can also be added.

They serve Champagne Roederer, Daomine de chatenoy 2006, Menetou, Chateau Monthly 1999, and whiky, Gin and Vodka.  There is a corking-fee if you want to bring your own champagne and wine.

They were very friendly, but the one item that really annoyed us greatly was that if you do bring your own wine and champagne they do not include the per-person charge for the dinner. But, if you want a romantic dinner on a lake next to Paris you cannot beat the location.

Alcazar

For a central Paris (5th) location that is modern, funky and hip then Alcazar may suit you. It has a private room where 40 may be seated for dinner, and a mezzanine where cocktails can be served. The ambience is a modern-deco-where-to-be-seen venue. The price to reserve the areas are between 500-1000 euros, plus then the menu and drinks costs would be worked out with the manager and on top of that. Warning: they are bit snobbish and unhelpful.
