Enter into this funky idol-animal-flamboyant Corsican specialty bar and prepare to sit, awed...
NOTE of importance...check your tab at this place...they have been known to 'accidently' charge extra to those they think are not paying attention to the total they are paying...more than once...a cool place for a drink, but be wary of this...
The inside will have your mouth hanging open. This is no exaggeration. We must have sat in shock for at least 10 minutes after entering this bar. The place is covered, from end to end, and floor to ceiling (and even on the ceiling itself) with animal prints. Giraffe. Leopard. Tiger. And more. These animal skins/prints (fake, not real), paint, and material covered the light fixtures, the poles and beams, the chairs, and even the ceiling-fan-arms!
Then, in between all that are 1000s of post cards of famous Hollywood and European movie stars from the 1920s and up. It was cinema-idol galore right down to the bathroom. Then, in between all that, are boas, Xmas lights, stuffed deer heads and legs, and various jungle animals (stuffed).
We could not tell if we had wandered into a boudoir, or a gay-bar, or just a funky restaurant. On the menu it is all Corsican specialties, Corsican cured meats, and traditional Corsican dishes and desserts. Yummy to be sure, but what a strange mix of traditional foods with outlandish ambiance.
The owner, with her very thick Corsican accent (and decked out in her lapboard-print shirt) proceeded to inform that they would be having a cabaret show the next Saturday as well, which one can enjoy in this animal-movie-star-boudoir-bizarre-restaurant-bar, all over their traditional Corsican meal.
I have yet to see any place quite like this in Paris. It is a must see and loads of fun.
